Martis Ward Wooster's Obituary
Martis Ward Wooster was born September 14, 1942 and passed away peacefully, at home, with his family on May 1, 2024.
At a young age Martis exhibited a deep love for history and literature. He spent countless hours reading books that would shape his understanding of the world and he was destined to be a scholar of history, a very talented craftsman, and a true friend to many.
His greatest love of all, was his wife, Shirley. They were wed 60 years ago, and it is a story filled with love, laughter, and a lifetime of cherished memories. They actually attended high school together but it wasn’t until after graduation that their paths would cross like stars again.
After graduating from Adamson High School in Dallas, Martis pursued his passion for learning at Austin College. He went on to build a successful family business.
Martis is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley, his children, Kristee Humphrey and Bo Wooster, his son-in-law, Andew Humphrey and two grandsons, Hudson and Smith Humphrey, a loving extended family, and many wonderful friends.
Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his spirit will live on in the memories he created and all the lives he touched.
His legacy of love, humor, kindness, and wisdom will live within all of those he called friend. Thank you, “Uncle Sonny”.
Funeral services for Mr. Wooster will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson at 10am on Saturday, May 11. The burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
