Martha Miller's Obituary
Martha Roberta Miller was born in Forest City, Arkansas on June 11, 1933 to Robert A. and Garnet Louise Austin. She quietly passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 7, 2014 surrounded by her children.
A celebration of her life will be at Spring Hill First Baptist Church Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at White Oak Cemetery, White Oak, TX.
Robbye was a home maker, a member of Spring Hill FBC, a master at solving crossword puzzles, a talented seamstress and an award winning artist; winning many awards for her paintings and pencil sketches. As the mother of 6 children, you would often find her at the sewing machine creating one of many costumes, prom dresses, or whatever was needed at the time for her children, nieces or nephews.
An active member of her community, Robbye served at president of the County Council and was a lifetime member and past president of the Spring Hill ISD Parent Teacher Association.
MeMaw, affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved and enjoyed the Christmas season, at times stuffing as many as 25 stockings with handmade items, candies and fruit for her children and grandchildren. Her home was deemed “the gathering place” for all events involving our large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, G.L. (Pete) Miller, son Robin (Butch) Lewis Miller, parent’s Robert A. and Garnet Austin, and brother Robert Austin.
Robbye is survived by her children and their spouses, Ginger and Bobby Jackson, Janette and Fred Rowan, Lynn and Chuck Martin, Billy and Patti Miller, Lisa and Bobby Crawford; siblings Geraldine and Toby Tuel, Peggy and Jimmy Weatherall, Beckye and Bobby Perkins, Danny and Shelia Lovett, and Vicki Lovett; brother and sister-in-law, Wink and Jane Miller; sister-in-law Myrtle Owings; and special friend and niece, Zelda Cox.
Also, left to cherish MeMaw’s memory are her 10 grandchildren, John Green, Michele Jackson, Jason Green, Rachel Rowan, Brandon Benge, Robert Benge, Shelly Patty, Stacy Allee, Christina Crawford, and Emily Smith, 23 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Spring Hill First Baptist Church Children’s Ministry.
John 14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
