Martha "Fuffie" Manuel's Obituary
Martha Willis Manuel, affectionately known as "Fuffie," passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in Opelousas, Louisiana, on September 13, 1954, to Patterson F. Willis and Shirley Backes Willis, Martha brought boundless love and joy to her family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit made every gathering brighter, especially during the holidays when she’d cook memorable meals and serve her signature red velvet cake.
Martha’s happiest times were shared with her late husband, Tommy “Bubbie” Manuel. Together, they enjoyed their years in Jacksonville, Florida, on the St. John’s River, where they cherished boating, feeding and caring for manatees, and attending Jacksonville Jaguars games. Later, they moved to a farm in East Texas, where Martha found joy in tending to animals, gardening, and watching Texas sunsets with Bubbie by her side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Patterson and Shirley; her husband, Bubbie; and her three sisters, Susan Siepel, Caroline Vincent, and Nancy Crader. Her memory will live on through her surviving siblings: Anne Goodwyne; Mary and Poncho Veron; Pat and Linda Willis; Jene and Randy Stein; Pokie and Jay Dean; Peggy and Mike McCarthy; and Liz and Tommy Boyter.
Martha was cherished by her nieces, nephews, and their families, including Katie and Jake Cooper, Natalie and Daniel O'Leary, and Lauren and Mason Sherrill. Her greatest joy was being “Fuffie” to her grandchildren: Reed, Carter, Landry, Walker, Declan, Emeline, Weston, and Nora.
The family extends deep gratitude to her caretaker, Diane Gamel, for her compassion and dedicated care.
Martha’s legacy of love, kindness, and adventure will be cherished by all who knew her. Her vibrant spirit, warmth, and the treasured memories she created will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
Services to honor her life will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Visitation will be from 12-2PM, followed by a Rosary at 2PM and her service at 2:30PM.
