Martha "Tody" Thornton Manning's Obituary
Martha Manning, 74, of Kilgore was called home to be with the Lord in the late evening of Friday, February 10, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10am. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7pm and a Rosary beginning at 7pm. She will be laid to rest in the Rosecrans National Cemetery of San Diego CA, next to her husband.
Martha was born in Dallas TX, on December 3, 1942 to parents John and Martha Thornton. She was a member of the 1881 Club and the United Daughters of Confederacy. Martha also enjoyed quilting being part of multiple quilting clubs and became part of the Happy Hookers Crocheting Club.
Martha was preceded in death by her parent, John and Martha Thornton; her husband, Robert Manning; and her son, Matthew E. Manning. Those left to cherish their memories of Martha include her children, Scott Manning and Dottie of Jacksonville FL, John Manning and Vikkie of Kilgore TX, Caleb Manning of Gilmer TX, Chris Manning and Ulaunda of Springhill TX, and Peggy Sue Gillis and Jeff of Lake Placid FL; her 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Kyle Thornton Hood and Sarah Thornton Hayes. Martha will also be remembered by her numerous extended family and friends.
