Marshall Ray Williams' Obituary
Funeral services for Marshall R. Williams will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 beginning at 2pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview with Houston Ellis Jr. officiating. The family would like to greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 29 from 6-8pm. Marshall went to be with the Lord in the evening of October 27, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Marshall was born in Haynesville LA on April 30, 1922 to loving parents Joseph and Dora Williams. Following graduation from Gaston High School, Marshall attended 2 years of College at Kilgore Junior College before enlisting in the Army Airforce and serving during WWII. During his service to this nation, Marshall was captured in Germany and became a POW, and was liberated on his 23rd Birthday. After his time in the Military, Marshall found and married the love of his life, Evelyn Williams, on July 20, 1953 and became a District Gauger for Citgo Pipeline until his retirement.
Marshall always enjoyed spending time with younger generations, coaching Little League Baseball teams, getting one of his teams to win the City Championship in 1969. He also would play cards with his family, fish, and tend to his hummingbirds when he wasn’t too busy.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dora Williams, as well as all of his siblings. Those left to cherish their memories of Marshall include his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Williams; children, Marshall “Skeeter” Wayne Williams, Randy Ray Williams and wife Debbie, Kerry “Tiny” Dean Williams, and Terry “Muscles” Gene Williams; grandchildren Christopher Scott Williams, Brandi Williams Spurger, Michael Dean Williams, Brandon Kyle Williams, Ryan Gene Williams Trabuco, Amanda Williams Spurger, April Mae Litchfield, Robert John Williams Dorsey, Brandy Israel, and Jennifer Rose Williams; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
