Marlene Wells Oliver's Obituary
Marlene June Oliver passed away on November 13, 2020 in Longview Texas.
A graveside memorial will be held on November 17th at Jenkin Springs Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas.
She was born in Brownwood, Texas on June 3, 1932 to Harvey and Lorena Wells. Marlene graduated from Early High School in 1949 and earned a degree in English Literature from Howard Payne University in 1976. She married O.L. Oliver on January 27, 1950 in Brownwood, Texas and were married for 61 years. Marlene worked for a number of years at the Kohler Company in Brownwood, Texas after raising her children.
Marlene had a deep love for the Lord. Anyone that encountered her knew her passion for following Christ and felt it in her words and actions. Upon moving to Longview, Texas she joined Oakland Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the Grace class and met many friends and fellow believers. She spent many years researching her family history and truly loved the connections she made with other family members in that journey. She joined the Daughters of the Republic of Texas in 2001 and was active in that organization. Upon retirement, Marlene and O.L. moved to Eddy, Texas. While there she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lorena. She and O.L. always enjoyed visiting with family and friends. The two of them enjoyed gardening and were always cooking something to share with others. Marlene also enjoyed sewing, needlework and making dolls. Whatever she set out to do, she did it well.
Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, O.L. Oliver, her parents Harvey and Lorena Wells and her brothers Billy Wells and David Wells.
Marlene is survived by her son and daughter in law, Obie and Lisa Oliver of Longview, Texas and her daughter and son in law, Milton and Lisa Anderson of Garland, Texas. Marlene had 3 grandsons, a granddaughter in law and 2 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association in her honor. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Parkview on Hollybrook and Traditions Health Hospice Care.
