Marla Lynell Cox Stone's Obituary
Marla Lynell Cox Stone (Lynell) age 85, passed away January 17, 2024.  She is survived by daughter, Rae Lynne Stone of Longview, TX; son, Jerry D. Stone of Edmond, OK; granddaughter Rilla Stone (Taylor Holman) of Fort Smith, AR; grandson, Levi B. Stone (Serenity) of Edmond, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her grandparents were early settlers of the North Texas Cedar Mills Community on the banks of Red River North of Sherman/Denison in Grayson County, where is now covered by Lake Texoma.  Lynell is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ivan Ray Stone; son Keith M. Stone; parents Charlie Franklin Cox and Rhoda Anderson Cox and siblings Kathleen Battenfield, John C. Cox, Leslie E. Cox, Alvis L. Cox, and Doyle F. Cox.
Lynell was born on April 24, 1938, in Gordonville, TX which is a small town on Lake Texoma.  She graduated from Whitesboro, TX High School and moved to Wichita Falls, TX acquiring a job in banking/finance and there met the love of her life, Ivan.  They started a family before moving to Houma, LA and Pampa TX before their final move together to San Antonio in 1989.  For the last seven years, she has resided with her daughter.
Lynell is a member of First Baptist Church of Boerne, TX and has been active in Church all her life, choir, Sunday School, and many school organizations over the years involving her children.  More recently her passion had been singing with the Senior Adult Maranatha Choir at FBC Boerne, Boerne Area Newcomers, Boerne Historical Preservation Society, Hill County Gardeners, and National Assoc. of Realtors/Texas Assoc. of Realtors.  She acquired numerous college hours over the years with emphasis on business administration.  She also acquired a real estate license in 1980.  Her best memories were becoming a mother, a grandmother, and traveling with her sweetheart, Ivan, to many special locations including their favorite the Hawaiian Islands.
A celebration of life service with reception afterwards will be held April 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Boerne, TX with an interment at Mission Park North Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.  The American Cancer Society of CTRC San Antonio, TX, and MD Anderson Cancer Center of San Antonio (https://makelivesbetter.uthscsa.edu/cancercenterdonate) were her preferred charities.
