Mark Raney's Obituary
Mark Grayson Raney passed peacefully on June 12, 2015, in Longview, Texas at the age of 49 after a brief illness.
Mark was born on March 18, 1966, in Longview, Texas, to George and Madge Raney. As a young boy, Mark had a passion for the outdoors that led him and best friend, Charles Martin, on many exciting adventures that were often known to include raccoons, muddy creeks, and many skinned knees. He graduated from Longview High School in 1984 and then attended Kilgore College and Texas State Technical College in Marshall.
Mark had a passion for animals and enjoyed spending time with his Rottweilers, camping, and most of all going on trail rides with his beloved horses. He will always be remembered as a man of many skills and hobbies, including forging knives and training horses, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mark is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Micah Fenton of Harleton, and Jared and Raven Raney of Hallsville, and daughter, Emma Raney of White Oak; grandchildren, Kayne Fenton and Khloe Raney; parents George and Madge Raney of Longview; siblings Noel Raney and wife, Carletta, of Longview, Bethany Holloman of Diana, and Julie O'Bryant and husband, Shannon, of Hallsville; best friend Charles Martin; along with numerous other extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, T.G. and Madge Bonham and Byron and Hollis Raney, all of Longview.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 on Monday, June 15, 2015, in Ford Chapel at First Baptist Church Longview. David English will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mark's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Texas Bank and Trust in memory of Mark Raney. Condolences can be sent to [email protected].
