Marjorie Thomas Everingham's Obituary
A memorial service celebrating the life of Marjorie Thomas Everingham, 88, of Longview will be held at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Longview, TX, at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2003 with Reverend Scott Hookey officiating. Ashes will be scattered in Dunedin, Florida, where she was a long-time resident.
Mrs. Everingham was born on August 30, 1915 in Green Mountain, Iowa, to Ben and Leticia Thomas. She was born into eternal life on October 21, 2003 after a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease.
Marjorie graduated from Clearwater FL High School, Saint Petersburg FL Junior College, and completed her education at University of Alabama. Her family pioneered in the development of Clearwater Beach in the 1930's. She was active in community service programs, the library guild, and helped organize the Junior Service League of Dunedin. She was an avid Bridge player. She and her husband owned and operated the Dunedin Bookstore for twenty years. They retired in 1978 and moved to Inverness FL. In 1998 they moved to Longview and joined Saint Andrew. She was a life-long Presbyterian.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles Everingham Jr.; a daughter, Dee Sweet of Floral City, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles III and Marcia, of Longview; five grandchildren, Charles IV of Diana; Ben of Edgewood, MD; Sarah of Dallas; Rick Sweet of Tallahassee, Florida; David Sweet of Floral City, Florida; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
