Funeral services for Marjorie Padgett Knowles, 91, of Ore City, will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverends Dewayne Beaty and Gary Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Ore City Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers include, her grandsons, grandsons-in-law, and great grandsons.
She was born October 6, 1911 in Graham, Texas to Grover and Mary Gallaher. She passed away on November 10, 2002 in a Longview nursing facility.
Marjorie graduated from Burkburnette High School near Wichita Falls, Texas. She married Sidney Cray Padgett in 1931 in Burkburnette.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 1033 and a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Ore City.
Mrs. Knowles is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Helen Padgett of Kilgore, eight grandchildren, including, Seleta D. Lovell, and Vicki D. Jones of Longview and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, S.C. Padgett and Dan Knowles, a daughter, Billie Dorch of Longview, a son, Sidney Padgett of Dayton, one granddaughter, Kristi Padgett of Dayton, and four younger brothers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at the funeral home.
