Marjorie Fanning Musselman's Obituary
Marjorie Fanning Musselman went home to be with her Heavenly Father and earthly parents, Orrin F. Fanning and Floy V. Stanley Fanning , aunts and uncles, on
November 19, 2007, after experiencing lengthy health problems. Services to commemorate the life of Marjorie Fanning Musselman will be held at Mobberly Baptist Church, beginning at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, November 24, 2007, with the Rev. Dale Perkins, Rev. Greg Martin, Dr. Gregg Zackary, and Dr. Glynn Stone officiating. Interment service will immediately follow at Rose Park Cemetery with Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, on Friday, November 23, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home, Longview. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
Marjorie was born on April 25, 1944, in Marshall, TX., reared in Hallsville, TX. for the first five years of her life before the family moved to Longview, TX. She is a 1962 graduate of Longview High School and attended Kilgore College majoring in Psychology.
A life long member of Mobberly Baptist Church, Marjorie loved her church and enjoyed attending at every opportunity and participating in worship to the best of her abilities. Through the years, she taught various Sunday School classes and influenced many a young girls life in a profound way. In recent years she was a member of the Son Risers Sunday School Class where she assisted with the Care Ministry. Her special calling was in visiting those that were sick, in the hospital, or having surgery, always available to lend her support, help, and prayers.
Throughout her professional career, Marjorie held various positions of responsibility. She began her career as a Junior Clerk at United Gas Corporation Entex; Cost Accounting Clerk at Marathon LeTourneau LeTourneau Inc.; and Secretary to the Plant Manager at LTV Corporation. This was followed as Secretary to the President/Owner of Delta Solvents; first woman to be employed by Texas Utilities in Tatum, TX., where she was Personnel Assistant plus handled other responsibilities; District Collection Manager for Zales Corporation in Longview and Tyler; Manager of Collections and Public Relations at East Texas Professional Credit Union; Sales Representative for Boise Cascade in East Texas and Shreveport, LA.; had numerous home based businesses; and for 25 years was owner of New Beginnings Newcomer Service in Longview.
Marjorie was a Free Lance Writer for many home based business magazines and publications. She is author of a home based business booklet, ?The Greatest Industry in America?. Marjorie was a past member of the National Association Female Executives, and served on the Board of Advisors of several home based business companies. Locally, she is a past member of Zonta International and a past volunteer for the Longview Chamber of Commerce.
Those left to cherish Marjories memory are her husband of 34 years, Maynard Musselman of Longview; son Jerry Musselman of Kilgore; sister Gwen Hanni and husband Steve of Richardson; twin Margaret Musslewhite and husband Wayne of Longview; nephew Cliff Musslewhite and Kay Musslewhite of Longview and son Mitchell; and nephew Clint Musslewhite and wife Stephanie of Round Rock. Also sister-in-law Harriet Adam and husband Gerald of Allentown, PA.; brother-in-law Donald Musselman and Ella Brown of Grand Junction, CO.; neice Melissa Wagner and husband Brian, and children Rachel, Hannah, and Micah, all of Kijabe, Kenya, Africa.
A special thanks is extended by the family to all the organizations, medical professionals, caregivers, friends, and Rader Funeral Home for all their help, concern, support, and encouragement during the illness of their loved one, Marjorie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mobberly Baptist Church Building Fund, American Stroke Association, American Kidney Foundation, Texas Home Health, Texas Home Health Hospice, Rehab at Home, and 4th Street DaVita Dialysis Center.
