Marjorie Line Hudgins Chandler's Obituary
Marjorie Line Hudgins Chandler, more fondly known as Mamu, completed her journey on Saturday, February 24, 2024, with us.
Marjorie was only child born to Carlos W and Novelle Line Hudgins on August 12, 1938, in Leary, Texas where she found comfort in residing until moving to White Oak, Texas in 2021 to be closer to family and create more memories with grandson and great-grandsons.
After graduating from Texas High, Texarkana, Texas she began working as business manager and in retail sales. She along with business mentor later opened a clothing store in downtown Texarkana that outfitted many young girls and women in surrounding area for years. After closing the store, she worked in sales for several local jewelry stores. But it was during the time with her business partner in the clothing business where she got the bug for politics which became her second passion and eventually last career.
Marjorie volunteered in numerous local, regional judicial, state and national campaigns over the years. She was elected as Bowie County Chair, SREC member District 1 and Electoral College delegate. After countless years of volunteering, Congressman Ralph Hall, 4th District, Texas selected her as his 4th District Staff representative serving Texarkana.
If you knew or just met Marjorie, you would quickly learn a few things. She was proud to be called “Mamu”, loved talking politics and telling you about her family. By the end of the conversation, you would have learned much about her daughter, grandson and wife and those great-grandsons that hung the moon. During these conversations is when she met her soulmate, Otha “Buddy” Chandler and the two were married in 1991. Both had a passion for people, politics and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson, Christopher Lee Talley.
She is survived by daughter, Margo Arnold Talley, Tyler, Texas; grandson and spouse, John Craig and Elisa Talley of White Oak, TX; four great grandsons Caden Lee, John Connor, Hudson Ray and Axton Dean Talley.
