Marita Joan Dodd Chambliss' Obituary
Marita Joan Dodd Chambliss was born on August 22, 1931 to Tate Carlton Dodd and Mary Eva Landers Dodd in Fort Stockton, Texas.  She was called Home on December 13, 2018.  She was known as Jo-Ann, Mom and Grandmom.
Jo-Ann married Keith Hanson Chambliss on July 4, 1953 in Seminole, Texas.  They were married for 65 years.  They lived in West Texas, Jackson, Mississippi, Monroe, Louisiana and Longview, Texas.
Joan graduated from Sul Ross State University where she was a varsity cheerleader. She was voted “Most Beautiful” by her peers.  She was an elementary school teacher and taught many years in the Pine Tree ISD.  She was instrumental in developing the Safety City Program and served on its board.  She was a faithful member of the Pine Tree Church of Christ and loved music, to sing, to travel, to bake, to spoil her family and to pamper her faithful Schnauzer, Penny.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; brother Richard Dodd of Garland, Texas; and sister Thelma Serur of Tyler, Texas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Terri Freeman of The Woodlands; Craig and Kelly Chambliss of Union Grove, Texas; Scott Chambliss of Temecula, California; and Lance and Lauri Chambliss of Longview, Texas; grandchildren include Taylor and Megan Freeman of Houston, Texas; Spencer Freeman of Houston, Texas; Brad Freeman of Houston, Texas; Austen and Brittany Chambliss of Dallas, Texas; Aaron Chambliss; Jillian Chambliss of Temecula, California; Tanner Chambliss of The Woodlands, Texas and Conner Chambliss of College Station, Texas; sisters, Jenna, Hanna and Savanna Chambliss of Union Grove, Texas; great grandchildren include Cooper and Cade Freeman, Kylar and Audrey Copeland and Vivian Chambliss.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery in Camden, Arkansas at 3:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
