Graveside services for Marion Velma "Topsy" Snider Jenkins of Arcadia, Louisiana, will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Keith Wilkerson officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Topsy passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012, in Arcadia, Louisiana.
As we say goodbye to our Mother and Grandma, we reflect back on all the loving and joy filled memories of her life. Even though she lost the love of her life Jack Jenkins Sr. at an early age, she spent the next 30 years rejoicing in their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Topsy was born in Tennessee on May 21, 1927, and her early years were spent in the East Texas oilfields during the boom of the 1930s, attending Pine Tree and East Mountain Schools. She moved to Dallas at the age of 17 to work as a model, returning to Longview to marry Jack at the end of WWII. Their life together was filled with love and kids. Family was an important part of their lives including trips, lake vacations, holidays and weekend get togethers.. For the past 15 years Topsy lived in Arcadia, Louisana, next door to daughter Babette. .
Topsy is survived by her children Trisha Blair John, Jack Jenkins Jr. Margaret, Babette Loe Dan, Barre Bowen Tim and Kyle Jenkins Debra, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters Evaree Winters and Fay Clements.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Jack C. Jenkins, Sr., mother, Viola Snider Gage, two brothers and one sister, and granddaughter Erin Jenkins.
