Marion I. White's Obituary
Graveside services for Marion I. White, 96, of Gilmer will be held at 10 AM Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Rosewood Park Mausoleum with Reverend Jack Matkin officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. White passed away Monday afternoon in a Gladewater nursing home.
Marion was born on May 26, 1915 in Sparland, Ill to Homer and Stella White. He was married to the love of his life, Vivian Isabelle Drinnin on April 15, 1939. He came to East Texas with Mr. R.G. LeTourneau and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Longview. Mr. White was also a member of the Longview Masonic Lodge #404, the Waco Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Longview York Rite Bodies. Marion was also a past Master of Portland Masonic Lodge #1411, a past Master of the Longview Masonic Lodge #404, and very active in the Scottish Rite Bodies Degree Teams. He worked for R.G. LeTourneau 30 years, Texas Eastman, and I.H.C. Holland for 3 years. He retired in June of 1980 from Baker Marine Corp. after 8 years.
Marion was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Quinn and Hester Jason; and his brother Victor White.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Vivian White; his sons and daughters-in-law, Byron and JoAnn White, and Michael and Martha White; his grandchildren, Jana Desborough and Judy Key; and Michael Sean White; great grandchildren, Jayla M. Jeffery-Frances Key , Byron Jeffery Desborough, and Madison Jeffery Johnson.
