Marion Squire Fowler II.'s Obituary
Marion Squire Fowler II, a cherished resident of Longview, gracefully departed this world on Friday, August 16, 2024. Born on August 31, 1943, in the charming city of Charleston, South Carolina, Marion led a life adorned with diverse accomplishments and heartfelt connections.
Educated at Kilgore College and General Motors University-TCU Campus, Marion excelled in his pursuits. His professional journey saw him as the esteemed Sales Manager at Beaver’s Buick Dealership in Longview, where he served with dedication for several years. Marion also donned the hat of a successful used car dealer, proudly owning Fowler Motor Company until his well-deserved retirement in 2008.
Beyond his thriving career, Marion found solace and purpose as the Music Minister at Central Baptist Church, serving with devotion alongside his cherished friend, Pastor Jay McCasland. A proud veteran, Marion served in the Air Force Reserves, demonstrating his commitment to duty and honor.
Marion was a family man at heart. Preceded in death by his parents Hazel Fowler and Cullen Fowler, one sister, Maxine Dennison, he leaves behind a legacy of love and kinship. He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Linda Fowler, and Martha Lewis the Mother of his children. Marion's family includes David Fowler (Victoria) and DeAnn Bodey (Clay Yoder), along with cherished grandchildren—Reagan Bodey (Makayla), Cullen Bodey (Kayla), Danielle Fowler, and Mari Banda. One sister, Jody Bennett, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, also mourn his loss.
Marion's faith was a guiding light in his life, as evidenced by his active involvement at Calvary Baptist Church. His contributions to the choir, Sunday School organization, prayer ministry, and Highway 80 ministry reflected his unwavering commitment to community and spirituality. Marion shared his wisdom as a Sunday School teacher, leaving a lasting impact through his Life Application classes.
A true lover of music, Marion's passion for singing started at a young age and continued throughout his life. His favorite genre later in life was Christian music, echoing his deep-rooted faith. Marion's favorite Bible verse, Romans 8:1, held a special place in his heart, proclaiming, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
In addition to his many accomplishments, Marion reveled in the simple joys of life—fishing, hunting, and the serenity of Lake Cherokee, where he once lived. His infectious smile, etched in our memories, will remain a source of comfort and warmth.
To celebrate the life of Marion Squire Fowler II, a memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church – Longview, Saturday, August 24, 2024, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. A private graveside service will take place at Long Cemetery in Powderly, TX, honoring Marion's final resting place.
