Marilea P. Marks
Funeral services for Marilea P. Marks, 79, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, at the First Presbyterian Church of Longview with the Reverends Richard Hollingsworth and Harry Messiner officiating. Interment will follow in Elderville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. She passed away Thursday, October 18, in a Longview hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Marks was born December 31, 1932 in Fairland, OK to James and Elsie Burke. Marilea was active in many church and community associations. Since joining the First Presbyterian Church in the summer of 1959 with her husband Bob Marks, she has supported the congregation by working in many areas including teaching an adult Bible Study class and working in the Stephen Ministries in recent years.
Marilea has served as the President of the Longview Pilot's Club, the Vice President of the Longview Newcomers Club, was a member of the Oak Crest Woman's Club and numerous other organizations. She took up bridge at the age of 76 and played every day either in one of her three local groups or online with people from as far away as Australia and New York. Many Longview residents will remember Marilea from her 20 years as the Club Accountant for the Summit Club. In early years, Marilea worked as a realtor with Upson Goolsby Real Estate.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles Marks and her son, Danny Marks.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Bobby Marks and wife Aila of Sugar Land, TX and Bill Marks and wife Karen of Spring, TX; daughter-in-law, Anne Tostengard Marks; grandchildren, Kathy Morris and husband Sterling, and Holly Marks, Ingrid Marks, Evan Marks, Kira Marks, Alexandra Marks and Jenna Marks.
