Marie Whitehurst Reel
A memorial service for Marie Reel, 81, of Longview will be held at noon Thursday in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Dr. Randy Fitzgerald officiating.
Mrs. Reel died Sunday night, January 10 at Longview Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Born March 18, 1928 in Gregg County, she was a lifelong resident of Longview. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Judson.
Mrs. Reel was a retired bookkeeper and a homemaker. She enjoyed watching golf on TV, rooting for the Lobos, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Reel was preceded in death by her husband A. J. Reel. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Connie and Dennis Wilson, Becky and Bill Thomas all of Longview; and son and daughter-in-law, David and Mesa Reel of Murphy, TX.
Me-Me is also survived by grandchildren: Elizabeth and her husband Anthony Johnson, Stephen Wilson, Kevin and Amanda Thomas of Longview and Karlye Reel of Murphy, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A special acknowledgement goes to her best friend Berneice Birdsong and to her physician Dr. Jeffery Shea and his staff.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8pm on Wednesday.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Summerfield Cemetery Association or to the charity of your choice.
