Marie Olcott Perkins' Obituary
Lorena Marie Olcott Perkins was born and raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on November 11, 1914. She moved to Longview, Texas to help raise her niece, Pat Hagerty. Marie was married Bill Perkins and raised four children: Frank, Harry, Kathy and Rick. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren, nieces and Grand-nieces and nephews from Plano to Australia.
Marie was a 70 year member of the Greggton First Baptist Church, cherishing her many friends. Known for her wild hats; colorful outfits and abundant letter writing, she was a joyous fun-loving soul.
Thank you Judy Perkins, for keeping Mom "Dressin' Gaudy" for so many years! She screamed with delight when every surprise package arrived. It felt like Christmas and Birthdays year round.
For the past eight years, Marie lived in Austin recovering from 2 broken hips and major colon surgery. She loved long road trips; Cruises with endless buffets and her little church, Crestview Baptist.
Marie was a devout Dallas Cowboys & UT Longhorns fan, she loved Willie Nelson and Bob Wills dance music.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Greggton First Baptist Church with Brother Bobby Moore officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. All are Welcome to share your memories.
