Marie P. Wheeley
Marie P. Wheeley, 90, of Longview went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2012. She was born October 19, 1921 in Duncan, OK. Services will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2012. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Wheeley was a longtime active member of the Greggton United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Over the years, she served in the U.M.W., receiving life membership from the local and district levels. She also served as president of The Martha Circle and served on various other committees.
In addition to her involvement at church, Mrs. Wheeley served the Pine Tree I.S.D., where her involvement included being a member of the Board of Trustees, PTA president, Athletic Booster Club president, and an active Band Booster. She enjoyed attending school functions, especially when one of her children or grandchildren was involved.
Mrs. Wheeley will also be remembered by the real estate business community, having served as president of the Women's Council of Realtors. She helped her husband in the operations of Wheeley Real Estate until his death. Afterward, she partnered with Jerry Myers in operating Wheeley and Myers Real Estate before retiring.
Mrs. Wheeley was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Eva Pursley; husband Bob Wheeley; sisters, Mary Rasberry and Bobbie Pursley; and brother Lee Pursley and wife Naomi.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Kosarek and husband Johnny; son Bobby Wheeley and wife Debra; grandchildren, Brad Burrows, Laura Ross and husband Josh, Erin England and husband Justin; great grandson Cade Ross and great granddaughter, Kennedy Marie Ross; sister, Norma Puckett and husband W.C.; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends; and special longtime friend Margaret Gambill.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
