Marie McGilvray's Obituary
Marie Foster McGilvray Graveside services for Marie Foster McGilvray, 86, of Carthage will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 with the Reverend Kenneth Mills officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. She passed away Tuesday, April 15 in a Carthage nursing center. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. McGilvray was born August 30, 1921 in Marshall to Ed and Elma Bruce. She grew up in Marshall and in 1966 she moved to Ore City where she resided until 2005. She was a retired sales clerk for Beall's Department Store and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ore City. Mrs. McGilvray was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J. L. "Mack" McGilvray; and her daughter, Sandra Kay Gray. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Akin of Carthage; son James Austin McGilvray of Lake 'o The Pines; twin sister, Margaret Shirley Wilson; and sisters, Rebecca Screws of Carthage and Eddie George Lewis of Garrison; grandchildren, Nancy and Tony Rash of Longview, Dewayne and Pam Akin of Carthage, Janet Gray of Longview and Becky Buell of Gilmer; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
