Marie Heflin Griffin's Obituary
Funeral services for Marie Heflin Griffin, 88, of Longview will be held Thursday, January 3, 2002, at 10 AM in the Chapel of the Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. with Mr. Lowell Worthington officiating.
Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday , January 2 from 5 until 7 PM.
Marie Heflin Griffin was born in Personville, Texas on March 19, 1913 to J. W. and Oletha Mae Heflin. She died at Good Shepherd Medical Center, Monday, December 31, 2001.
Marie was married to Epps Griffin on July 5, 1941. He preceded her in death as did her parents. She is survived by one daughter, Norma Griffin Coston and husband L. P. of Katy, TX; one son, Don Griffin and wife, Nancy of Longview, TX; three granddaughters, Mandy Griffin Goley and husband Wayne Goley of Kilgore, TX, Jennifer Griffin Shofner and husband Bo Shofner of Longview, TX., and Christie Coston of Austin, TX,; one great grandson, Logan Griffin Goley,one great granddaughter, Regan Addison Shofner; one sister, Jimmie Owens of Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was a longtime member of the Alpine Church of Christ in Longview and at the time of her death, she resided at Buckner Westminster Place Retirement Center in Longview where she enjoyed the friendship of many wonderful residents. She served on the Ambassadors Residence Greeting Committee there. She was a member of the Longview Bank and Trust Omni Club and enjoyed participating in the Exxon annuitants gatherings.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Alpine Church of Christ Library or to the local Heart Association.
Serving as pallbearers will be Don Griffin, Richard Gibson, Richard Spencer, Morgan Wilson, Foy Owens, Paul Borman, Charlie Butler and Carl Buce.
