Maria Carmen Galvan's Obituary
A loving soul who left a warm impression in the hearts of everyone she met is an appropriate description of the impact that Maria Carmen Guerra-Galvan made in her journey through life. A caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend; Maria always had a smile on her face that exhumed positivity. Maria was born in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jose Isabel and Florencia Guerra and would move to Longview with her husband of 56 years, Javier Louis. In Longview, they would become the foundation of their beautiful and caring family. Together they would embark on a new journey that brought them to East Texas, and which allowed them to share their love for their culture and its food with the people of Longview. They would instill this love and respect in their children, Shirley, Yolanda, Brenda, and Jose. Regardless of challenges or adversity, Maria’s faith would guide her and allowed her to continue leading her family. Maria was never shy about expressing her love for her grandchildren, Sergio, Daniel, David, Lesleigh, Lalo, Erick, Christian, Anthony, and Elizabeth. After a long-fought battle, the Lord would call for Maria to blissfully rest alongside her parents and siblings, Alfredo, Lourdes, Silvia, and Miguel.
Maria is survived by her loving husband, Javier Galvan; her four children and their spouses, Shirley (Cesareo) Salazar, Yolanda Galvan, Brenda (Marcelino) Benitez, and Jose “Tete” Galvan; her nine grandchildren and their spouses, Sergio Salazar, Daniel Salazar, David Salazar, Lesleigh (Luis) Perez, Lalo Galvan, Erick (Katelynn) Benitez, Christian Benitez, Anthony Benitez, and Elizabeth Galvan; her great grandson, Isiah Perez; her siblings, Ana Maria, Raul, Lilia, and Alejandra Guerra; her brother and sister in law and their spouses, Virginia Galvan, Luis (Rosa Maria) Galvan, and Raul Mancha; her nieces/nephews and their spouses, Martha Calderas, Veronica (Guillermo) Lawers, Sandra (Ulises) Gonzalez, Adriana (Santiago) Anaya, Mariana (Antonio) Magana, Silvia Arce, Carlos Moncivais, Miguel (Gloria) Monsivais, and Valeria Guerra; as well as other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation at Rader Funeral Home in Longview from 6-8 PM on Sunday, May 13, 2018. A mass in her honor will be held at 2 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Longview on Monday, May 14, 2018.
