Marguerite Hallum's Obituary
Graveside services for Marguerite P. Hallum will be 11 am on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Memory Park Cemetery with Rev. Earl Cantrell officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Mrs. Hallum passed away in the early hours on November 23, 2012.
Mrs. Hallum was born March 23, 1925, in the Spring Hill Community near Weleeka, Oklahoma to John W. and Isabell Ward Patterson. At an early age she moved with her parents to East Texas. She graduated from Kilgore High School in 1942, and attended Kilgore College, where she was a member of the Rangerettes and a sorority. She worked several different places for a short time before obtaining employment with Shell Oil Company. On March 22, 1946, she married Robert F. Hallum, of Longview, after his return from World War II. During her children's years in school, she was very active in their activities. She served as room chairman, and held many offices in the Parent Teacher Association and received a lifetime membership. As the children became older, she began working in the family business until retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Longview.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert F. Hallum, her parents, and brother, John Ward Patterson of Casper, Wyoming. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Patricia Ann and Edward Steele, Jr. of Lake Cherokee, her son and daughter-in-law R. Michael and Shelley Hallum of Marshall; her grand-children Kristy L. and Jonah L. Davis of Big Sandy, Kourtney L. and Dennis R. Long of Union Grove, Jantzen M. Hallum, Jordan M. Hallum and Jaycee M. Hallum of Marshall, one step-granddaughter Melissa Steele Russell and her husband Bill Russell of Snow Mass Village, CO; her great grandchildren Trinity Davis, Tristan Davis, Miley Nono, Bentley Watkins, Ethan Russell, Ryan Russell, Keighley Long, Logann Long, and Konner Long.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 - 6 PM.
