Marguerite Ellen Grimes' Obituary
Marguerite Ellen Nelms Grimes, age 89, passed away at 5:45 PM
Monday, April 28th at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret ?Jane? and Glen Boyd Graham, of Longview. She was born June 24, 1913, in Fort Worth, TX, the eldest of five children to Annie Lou Brown Nelms
and William ?Mark? Nelms. She married Henry Herman ?Bittie? Grimes January 29, 1929 in Longview. Bittie preceded her in death, April 8, 1972.
Mrs. Grimes worked as an alteration seamstress for 38 years
at Goyne?s Cleaners in Longview. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing in her home until her health failed three months ago.
She was a life-long member of the First United Pentecostal
Church, where she was actively involved over the years as a
song leader, secretary-treasurer, and as a Trustee. She was
considered a ?Saint? by her church and her family and friends,
who all benefited from her example of grace and steadfast
faithfulness.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Jane Graham, she is survived
by her son, Billy Eugene and Louise Grimes, of Gum Springs; sisters, Mrs. Madeline Annie Terry of Gum Springs and Mrs. Naomi Ruth Hill of Hornbeck, LA,; six grandchildren, Ronny and Debbie Graham of White Oak, Ricky and Tommie Graham of Longview,
Becky and Eddy Alexander of White Oak, Marion Beth Buckelew
of Tyler, William and Heather Grimes of Dallas, Richard and
Carol Brown of Gilmer and numerous great grandchildren.
Services will be 2 PM Thursday, May 1, 2003 in the Chapel of
Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., with her former pastor,
Reverend Kevin Prince and present pastor, Reverend James Renfro
officiating. Interment will follow in Gum Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday
evening, April30, 2003 from 6-8 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Pentecostal
Church.
