Margie Nell Lile's Obituary
On Christmas Day, 2019, Margie Nell Lile passed away at the age of 87. Margie was born November 13, 1932, in a 2 room frame house in Harrison County, near Longview, Texas, to Juddie Annelle (Reel) McLendon and James Melton McLendon. She attended schools in Kilgore and Hallsville as well as Pine Tree in Longview where she graduated in 1950. Locally, Margie worked for First National Bank in Longview, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Longview and First State Bank in Hallsville.
A 6th generation Texan, Margie devoted a lot of time researching family history and keeping genealogical notes. She was an avid photographer and spent many hours in her dark room perfecting printing techniques. An avid reader since childhood, she volunteered with the East Texas Literacy Council. She also loved flower gardening, bird watching and sewing. She was known for her sweet temper, infectious smile and kind and compassionate spirit.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband – Luke A. Lile, parents – Annelle and Melton McLendon, sister - Patsy McLendon Teague, and brother - James Melton McLendon, Jr. She is survived by her 3 children and their families: Marjorie Kaye Gregory and husband Jack, Karen Ann Parker and husband Mike, and Edward Allen Lile and wife, Victoria. Margie’s 7 grandchildren are Jennifer Spradlin, Collin Gregory, Justin Spradlin, Ky Gregory, Cody Gregory, Julian Lile and Peter Lile. She has 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles P. Teague, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019, 11:00 am, at Memory Park Cemetery located at 2823 E. Marshall Avenue, Longview. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at 2:00 pm, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) located at 601 SW Johnson Avenue, Burleson, Texas.
