Margie Lee Fuquay's Obituary
Margie Lee Roster Fuquay
Margie Lee Roster Fuquay, wife, mother and friend, died Aug. 18 at age 86 surrounded by loving family in Dallas. Born in 1925 in Corpus Christi, she attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she belonged to Pi Beta Phi and majored in business. On March 6, 1948, she married Neill Fuquay of Lillington, N.C., with whom she shared a full and happy life and four beautiful children until his death in 1990.
In 1954 she sailed to France with Neill, who contributed to the post-war construction of the petroleum industry, and their three small boys, armed with a confidence she would exhibit throughout her life. Upon their return in 1955 the couple settled in Beaumont, where she was active in community theater, art and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. In 1970 they moved to Longview, where Lee volunteered in preschool education and Meals on Wheels, and belonged to First Presbyterian Church.
Lee continued her parents' lifelong love of bridge, attaining Life Master, and guided her family with wise, independent judgment and impeccable taste.
She is survived by four children — Chuck and wife Kathryn of Dallas, Jim and wife Susan of Arlington, Bob of Beaumont and Carolyn Fuller of Dallas; grandsons Matthew Fuquay of League City, Dr. Richard Fuquay of Denver, Jessica Smith Hulsman of Jackson, Neill Fuquay and Jay Fuquay, both of Dallas, Erica Lumaghini of Jackson, Madeleine Fuller of Homer, Alaska, Anne Fuquay of Indianapolis, and Benjamin Fuller of Dallas, and four great-grandchildren.
Following graveside services with family, a memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Longview. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Meals on Wheels, c/o Longview Community Ministries, Box 1023, Longview, TX, 75606.
