Margie Lancaster
Funeral Services for Margie Lancaster, 87, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Todd Kaunitz and Roger Carr officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Mrs. Lancaster died Sunday, March 25, 2012, in a local hospital following a short illness.
Family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lancaster was born on July 28, 1924, in Pritchett, Texas, to James Arthur and Mollie Letcher Vessel Sweatman. Mrs. Lancaster was working at Davenport's Department Store in Cooper, Texas, when she met the love of her life, Billy Joe Lancaster. They married on January 23, 1949, and were married for fifty-one years. The Lancasters moved to Longview in 1959, she became an employee of Sears, and retired after 35 years of service. Mrs. Lancaster was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lancaster is survived by her four sons and three daughters-in-law, Benny and Kathy, Danny and Karen, Larry and Vicki, all of Longview, and Jimmy and partner Joe Adams of Dallas; her nine grandchildren, Kevin Alston and his wife Kimberly, Julie Ford and her husband Gary, Kris Lancaster and his wife Tara, Jason Lancaster and his wife T. C., Scott Lancaster, Travis Lancaster and his wife Kati, Lindsey Demers, Whitney Demers, and Mason Lancaster; her five great-grandchildren, Parker Lancaster, Anna Ford, Ethan Lancaster, Caleb Lancaster, and Claire Lancaster; and one sister Imogene Harrison.
Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by her loving husband Billy Joe Lancaster, her parents James Arthur and Mollie Letcher Sweatman, and brother Ardell Sweatman.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Alston, Kris Lancaster, Jason Lancaster, Scott Lancaster, Travis Lancaster, and Gary Ford. Honorary pallbearer will be Mason Lancaster.
Memaw was the cornerstone and most influential person in our family. All of us have counted on her at different times in our lives and she has always been there for us. Although we are sad, we are at peace knowing she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
