Margaret Barrow Walling's Obituary
Margaret Barrow Walling, 85, of Longview Texas went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept 27, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. She spent her final days at Summer Meadows under the watchful, loving care of family, close friends and the exceptional staff.
Funeral service will be held at 11am Monday Sept 30, 2013 at Summerfield United Methodist Church with Brother Randy Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow Monday afternoon at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Texarkana Ark. under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will greet friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept 29, from 2-4 pm.
Mrs. Walling was born Dec 11 1927 to Mittie and Phillip Poag of Texarkana Tex. She graduated high school in Jan of 1945 and married Jimmy Barrow in Feb of 1945 and they were married 40 years. He passed away in Mar. 1985. In April of 1989 she married Bud Walling and they were married almost 20 years. He passed away in Dec of 2008.
Margaret greatly enjoyed her sisters in her sorority in Beta Sigma Phi and was proudly in Order of the Rose. She also enjoyed her volunteer work and always took pleasure in helping neighbors.
She never forgot a birthday and was famous for sending notes and cards to family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mittie and Phillip Poag, Mr. Jimmy Barrow of Milan, TN and Mr. Bud Walling of Lake Cherokee
Those left to cherish her memory are Becky Ferguson and husband Mike of Longview, Denise Nipper of Longview, Pat and Mike McGarity of Dayton, Texas.
She was very proud of her grandchildren, Andy Ferguson and wife Casey of Diana, and Aaron Ferguson of Longview, Gary Peek and Wife Cindy of Fresco, Kim Smith and Husband Johnney of Mansfield, James Peek and Wife Mechelle of Keller, Stewart Nipper and Stacy of White Oak, Robin Hecks and Jake of White Oak, Stacy and Wade Tulley of Liberty, Lori McGarety and Holly of St John of Bay Town and very proud of 21 great grandchildren.
A Special Thanks goes to Mr. Harry Brown and his wonderful family of Tyler Texas for putting the spark back in her eyes and loving her so completely. The family would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for their kindness during this difficult journey.
