Margaret Dennis Wade's Obituary
Margaret Dennis Wade, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away, November 18, 2024, after a long bout with dementia. Born to William and Charlene Dennis on November 5, 1951, Margaret lived her entire life in Longview, with the exception of a year in Dallas.
A 1969 graduate of Longview High School, Margaret graduated second in her class, following in the footsteps of her mother, Charlene. She cherished her time at LHS, maintaining lifelong friendships with many people in her graduating class.
At LHS, Margaret met the love of her life, Vernon Richard Wade, Jr. The two were married on August 6, 1971.
After graduating from Kilgore College, Margaret decided to join her father in helping to run the family accounting firm, then called Dennis Associates. For many years, they ran the business together until his retirement; then, she continued to run it alongside her husband and son. Until it closed its doors in 2021, Dennis-Wade Associates had been doing business in Longview for more than 50 years.
Margaret loved spending time with family and friends. She loyally sat next to Richard at nearly every Lobo football game for almost 40 years. She enjoyed reminiscing with her friends from the Class of 1969, and she always loved any moment she could spend with her extended family.
Margaret’s family had very strong roots at Trinity Episcopal Church, and she and Richard remained loyal members there until 2000. At that point, they decided to move churches and became members at First United Methodist Church in Longview.
She and Richard loved their FUMC family, and loved fellowship with their friends from the Grace Lowrey Class and Chancel Choir. Being a member of the Chancel Choir was one of Margaret’s favorite things in the world, and she looked forward with great anticipation to Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. The music and friends she made were truly a blessing.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 52 years, Vernon Richard Wade, Jr.; her parents, William and Charlene Dennis; her granddaughter, Lindsey Paige Tabor; her grandparents, and multiple others.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jeff Tabor of Wylie, Texas; son, Derek Wade of Longview; sister and brother-in-law, Aliece and Mike Scott of Longview, and their children and grandchildren; granddaughter and husband, Brittany and Mason Knapp of Caddo Mills, Texas; granddaughter, Danica Wade of Longview; great-granddaughter, Maelynn Knapp of Caddo Mills, Texas; and numerous other nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and other family members.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Fredonia, Longview.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donation be made to the First United Methodist Church of Longview Fine Arts Fund. Donations also can be made at the address above.
