Margaret York Jones' Obituary
Margaret Helen York Jones went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on June 23, 2018, surrounded by family.
Margaret was born Margaret Helen York on May 2, 1924, in Dallas, Texas, to Rupert Napolean and Maggie Woodard York. She later moved with her family to Rusk, Texas, where she lived until she met H. Hollie (H.H.) Jones, whom she later married on April 14, 1951. Together, they had 3 sons and a home full of love and happiness.
While living in Rusk, Margaret worked as a clerk in the County Courthouse and later for Mid-Valley Pipeline in Longview. She later helped with the family business, York Pump & Equipment, as well as raising her 3 children.
Margaret was very active with First United Methodist Church in Longview for as long as she was able. She sang in the church choir as a mezzo soprano soloist, among other church involvements. She was known for her style, perfectly coifed white bun, and she volunteered as a model for Martin’s Clothing Store for many years. She enjoyed playing piano, spending time with family and friends and gardening.
“Nina”, as she was known to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a gentle soul who served her Lord faithfully and loved her family deeply.
She is preceded in death by her husband H. Hollie Jones, her parents, and sister Louise.
She is survived by her children Alan Jones, Mark Jones and wife Barbara, Stan Jones and wife Belinda. She is also survived by grandchildren Kassy Jones, Barry Jones, Hollie Bruce and husband Kirk, Kelly Jones Lochman, Stefanie Collier and husband Curtis, Jennifer Bryant and husband Kyle, Nicholas Jones, Melissa Jones and Jessica Jones. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Ivy Alice Lochman, Caroline Lila Collier, Baya, Nolan Hollie and Mikki Bryant, Gattlyn Yeager, and Blakely York.
The family will receive family and friends for Visitation on Tuesday, June 26, from 5pm-7pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. A chapel service will be held at Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27, at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Jay Jackson.
Pallbearers include Kirk Bruce, Kyle Bryant, Curtis Collier, Nicholas Jones, Perry Reed, Mark Smith, and Mike Smith. After the service, a procession will be held to the gravesite at Memory Park in Longview.
The family would like to thank Compass Hospice, Heartis Senior Living, Susan Gardner, First United Methodist Church and Crys Hubbard for their dedicated care and compassion. Very special thanks as well to Miss Daisy Taylor, a long-time family member who has given care, companionship, and love to Nina for many years.
