Margaret Garland Hight Porter's Obituary
Services for Margaret Garland Hight Porter, 49, a fifth-generation Longview native previously maintaining a residence in San Antonio will be conducted on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. with Reverend David Lindwall officiating.
Mrs. Porter was born March 1, 1954 in Longview and succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday, July 20, 2003.
She attended the Hockaday School and Highland Park High School of Dallas and was a graduate of Merrill Academy, also of Dallas.
She was a community service volunteer during her residence in the cities of Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. She was an accomplished English horsewoman
whose hobby was the preparation of gourmet cuisine.
She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, Evelyn Pegues Hight of Longview and Santa Fe, New Mexico; her father, Thomas Aldwin Hight, Jr. of Lake Cherokee and her Godparents, her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Noble, Jr. of Longview.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily Pegues Carter Chavez of San Antonio and her son, William Leftwich Carter of Seguin; sister, Emily Jane Hight Bell of Longview and two brothers, Marcus Wood Hight of Llano, TX and Joseph Howard Hight of Dallas as well as beloved grandchildren, Cameron, C?erra and Angel.
Further survivors are as follows; nephews Stephen David Bell of Lake Cherokee, Richard Gene Bell of Ft. Worth and Davis Hight Bell of Longview.
Visitation by the family with acquaintances and friends will take place at Rader Funeral Home during the appointed hours of 5-7 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2003.
Those caring to do so are kindly urged by the family to make any memorials of a charitable nature to the Gregg County Human Society or any other charity of personal choice.
