Margaret Cace's Obituary
Margaret "Margie" Gregory Cace 80 years endearing, lived out her life and love in the Shreveport/Longview area until circumstances put in motion a return to her native Arkansas. She is coming "home" to be buried as requested next to her Beloved, the one great love of her life, and husband of more than 20 years, John Johnny S. Cace, Jr. Who preceded her in death ten years ago this coming June. Accompanied back to Texas by niece and caregiver Deborah Miller Fraley, Deborah's husband Jimmy, their son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren along with two of her sisters, she will take her earthly resting place next to Johnny. "Aunt Margie" as she was more recently called by adoring great-nieces Katy and Jamie, was a native of Turrell , AR , born on June 19, 1929 to Willie Roby Gregory and Jessie Yewell Gregory who both precede her in death. With high hopes and even higher spirits, she and a girlfriend moved to the Shreveport/Louisiana area more than 60 years ago and she only returned permanently to Arkansas following the death of her spouse and her own decline in health. Margie and Johnny were long time highly successful and innovative restaurateurs, having owned and operated the historic Johnny Cace's Seafood and Steakhouse for many years. They took great pride in their business and were known for their Southern hospitality. Margaret died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Friends and family members remember her famous yard art as she enthusiastically decorated and re-decorated the yard for each season or holiday in what became a well known "must see" and frequent destination drive-by for area residents who enjoyed her whimsy as she made yard art a true Margaret Cace extravaganza. She was a Giver. Loving to prepare snack bags and share them with friends and strangers, everyone was happy to see her coming and fittingly, all who knew her and all who loved her are sad to see her go. Other surviving relatives include three stepsons, John S. Case III of San Antonio , TX , Gerard C. Case of Longview , TX , and Daniel G. Case of Tyler, TX, seven step grandchildren, while she considered all of them to be grand, she was so pleased at the opportunity she had to spend extra time with Jenni Cace Woerndle and Chelsea Cace, three sisters Sophie Gregory Miller of Turrell, AR, Ann Gregory Ross Turrell, AR and Betty Gregory Rubino of Bethel, CT. In addition to her spouse and parents, one brother, W.R. Gregory of West Memphis , AR preceded her in death.
The graveside memorial service will be at Memory Park on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 10:00 am. Arrangements by Rader Funeral Home of Longview , TX .
