Margaret Boring was one of my favorite people ever! I’ve known her all of my life. She was a great influence in not only my life but so many people in Longview. She taught three year olds on Sunday morning, four year olds on Sunday night and volunteered in the library at First Baptist Church. I was in the same school class with her two older sons and she was always a PTA mom. Since she was a nurse, she always had her first aid kit handy on field trips. I can remember the care that she gave as she doctored those wounds. We lived in the same neighborhood and I remember well what a caring neighbor she was. My dad and her husband worked together at the depot and they also fished together. She and my mom taught preschoolers together, volunteered at Campus Ward and Ware and shared their birthdays which were one day apart. She was always a gracious hostess as she opened up her lake home to others. The best word that I can use to describe her is “sunbeam”. She was a ray of sunshine to so many people all through those ninety-nine years. She believed strongly in God and lived out her life serving him and serving others. Because she was so well read you could have serious, deep discussions with her. Along with her depth and insight, she also had a quick wit and was fun to be around. I thank God for Margaret Boring.
