Margaret Alice Barnes' Obituary
Margaret Alice Webb Barnes passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, exactly one week after her 85th birthday, surrounded by her family. A dedicated wife, mother, and friend to many, her absence will be greatly felt by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bobby Clarence Barnes, and twin daughters, Rebecca B. Fahle of Henderson with her husband Steven, and their two daughters, Stephanie J. Fahle and Evelyn I. Fahle and Pamela B. Hall of Tyler with her husband, Bradley, and their four daughters, Amber E. Qualls, Adrienne E. Dolan, Audrey E. Stanley, and Alexis E. Hall and daughter Kelly B. Stuart of Longview with her husband Mark, with her two daughters, Haley H. Cly and Madeline R. Hand and stepson Mark Avery Stuart. There are 5 great-granddaughters and 3 great- grandsons.
She was a lifelong resident of Longview, born January 20, 1933, along with her twin sister, Marian Webb Boozman, who preceded her in death September 7, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Carey Edward Webb and Elizabeth Elberta Blakely Webb, and her older brother, Eugene Edward Webb as well as Mildred Eunice Webb who preceded them in death in 1926.
She was active in the community, being a founding member of the Longview Garden Club as well as a member of the Pathfinders First Baptist Church Sunday School which was a joy of hers as well. She graduated from Longview High School in 1950 and then attended North Texas State College in Denton, A&M’s sister college, which later became Texas Women’s University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1957. Immediately after graduation, and marrying her lifelong partner, she co-founded BOMAR Enterprises Inc. with Bobby, dedicated to oil and gas exploration. She was particularly proud of her work at the Gregg County Historical Museum for almost two decades, first as a docent and then as the Education Coordinator. She retired in 1998 at the age of 65 and had many fond memories of her time there.
Our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and good friend will be missed dearly.
There will be a memorial service celebrating her life held on Saturday, February 3rd, at 10 a.m. in the Ford Chapel at First Baptist Church of Longview.
Our mother would have been honored with any memorials sent to the Gregg Co. Historical Museum.
