MARGARET ANN EKAS, born August 1, 1924 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Daisy Hain and Claude Philip Ekas Sr.. She passed away June 25, 2009 at age 84 in Kilgore, Texas. She moved to Kilgore as a child during the oil boom in 1931, graduated from Kilgore High School in 1941 and received a Bachelors degree from Texas State College for Women now TWU in Denton, Texas in 1945. After graduation she worked as a Seismic Analyst for Magnolia Petroleum Company until she married Homer Eugene Pat Patterson, June 16, 1951 in Dallas, Texas. They made their home and raised three children in Dallas' Park Cities. She was active in the Highland Park School District PTA, the Prudence Alexander Chapter of the DAR, a 40 year member of the University Park United Methodist Church and recent member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Kilgore. She had been a resident at the Willows Nursing Center, in Kilgore since 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Claude Philip Ekas Jr.. She is survived by her children, Philip E. Patterson of Kilgore, Ann L. Patterson, her husband, Howard A. Langner, and son, Samuel Langner of Austin, Texas, and Gregory L. Patterson and his wife, Jill Freeman Patterson of Dallas. The Dallas Memorial is pending. A Memorial Service in Kilgore will be held at 10:00am Monday, July 6, 2009 at St Luke's United Methodist Church, 401 East Main Street. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kilgore Habitat for Humanity Kilgore Projects, P.O. Box 2315, Kilgore, Texas 75663-2315.
