Marcus Randall Barnes' Obituary
A memorial service for Marcus Randall Barnes, 79, of Longview, formerly of Kilgore, will be 2 PM Monday, March 20, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore with Rev. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Mr. Barnes passed away Thursday at his home in Longview.
Marcus was born on June 6, 1926 in Mexia, Texas to S.B. and Freda Barnes. He attended Kemper Military Academy in Missouri and graduated from Longview High School in 1943. After high school he attended Kilgore College. He was a pilot and Colonel in Civil Air Patrol for over 40 years, and was a Texas Wing Commander for many years. Mr. Barnes was on the Board of Trustees at Kilgore Jr. College in 1961. He was a Rotarian for 51 years with perfect attendance and the owner and operator of the Federal Machine Supply Company in Kilgore for many years.
He is survived by daughters Cynthia Barnes Haynes of Sevierville, TN., and Millicent Barnes of Quinlan, TX.; 6 grandchildren, David Scott Nelson of Tyler, TX., Eric Barnes, Meredith Barnes and Kevin Barnes all of El Paso, TX., and Katey and Kelcy Steffen of Arlington, TX.; and 2 great grandchildren, Savannah and Bethany Nelson of Tyler, Texas.
Mr. Barnes will be missed by all of his family and friends.
