Marcus Gross' Obituary
John Marcus Gross, age 99, of Longview, TX passed away March 17, 2016. He was born February 4, 1917 in Guntersville, AL Marcus honorably served his country during WWII for four years as an Army Paratrooper. He later attended the University of Alabama for two years.
Marcus worked for Lone Star Steel and retired after 30 years of service. He coached baseball in his earlier years and enjoyed fishing, cooking and was an avid reader. Marcus had a great sense of humor.
Marcus was a longtime member of Winterfield Methodist Church
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nan.
Marcus is survived by his loving children Johnny Gross of Austin, Judith Jacobs, grandchildren Eric Jacobs and his wife Amy of Longview, Julie Boling and her husband Kevin of Royse City and Jessica Hancock and her husband Ryan of Austin and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Monday, March 21, 2016 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with visitation starting at 1pm. Interment will follow services at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
