Marcus Fay Vascocu's Obituary
Marcus Fay Vascocu, beloved husband, dad and paw paw passed away on February 18, 2005. Born January 12, 1919 in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
At a very young age, Marcus moved to Longview, Texas and was raised there. He graduated from Longview High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a BBA degree. He joined the Navy in WWII where he became a 2nd Lieutenant. After the war, he attended SMU Law School and moved to Longview where he practiced law for many years. In 1971 he was appointed Judge of the 188th Judicial District Court in Gregg County by Governor Preston Smith. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Masons and a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Longview.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Sutton and his parents, A. E. and Julia Vascocu. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of 63 years, his sister, Naomi Kilgore of League City, Texas, daughter, Karen Woolf and husband Jerry of Sugar Land, Texas, daughter, Ann Davis and husband Ed of Houston, Texas, granddaughter, Kristin Crawford and husband Kevin, granddaughter, Lindsey Woolf, grandson, Marc Davis, grandson, Scott Davis. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, February 22 at 12:00 noon in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home on Monday, February 21 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
