Marcia Winniford Lynch's Obituary
A wonderful wife, mother and friend moved from life on this earth to the joys of Heaven on July 15, 2004. Marcia Winniford Lynch was an extraordinary woman with many talents which she shared generously with others. She was an exceptional cook, always feeding someone gourmet meals. She was an excellent teacher and mathematician, sharing her talents for teaching with her co-workers and students. She worked very hard at whatever she did and wanted to make her life count in every possible way. Marcia graduated valedictorian of her high school in the small East Texas community of Campbell, Texas. Graduating when she was fifteen, she had acquired enough college work in two yearsthree days short of her 18th birthday to start her 38 year teaching career in Nelda, Texas. Nelda High School was her first school and Longview High School, the last. A longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Longview, she was active in the United Methodist Women, holding numerous offices. With her husband Jack, she also volunteered many hours in the church library and other areas.
Jack Franklin Lynch was the other half of a loving team, their marriage lasting almost 63 years. One daughter, Anne Lynch Orr, her spouse, Jay B. Orr, granddaughter Heather Orr Galindo and husband George Galindo, a brother Dr. O. N. Winniford, his wife Billie, niece, Kathy Winniford Smith and nephew Craig Winniford are the surviving family. She will be greatly missed but is at peace and rest with loved ones, breathing the pure air of Heaven.
A memorial service will be on Monday, 10 AM at Rader Funeral Home, Longview. Officiating will be Bishop John Wesley Hardt and Rev. Bill Cunningham. Family visitation will follow the service at Rader Funeral Home. Any memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Asbury House or any other organization of choice.
