Tillman Marc Perkins was born on April 22, 1954 in Longview, Texas to Tillman and Jean Perkins. He grew up in Longview and was a 1972 graduate of Longview High School. He attended Kilgore College and then graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Marc Attended and graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. He began his career in Midland, Texas working for Magnatex Oil Company. After the birth of his first child, Marc and his young family moved to San Antonio where he continued to practice law.
Marc was a man who loved his family and friends and who lived life to its fullest. He was never one to be idle when there was something he could be doing. Getting an education was so important, but he also dedicated himself to giving back whenever possible. Marc was so proud to have served his high school as student body president, his junior college as Rangerette manager, and his university as president of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He continued this belief while living in San Antonio. He served as an usher for Alamo Heights Methodist Church and was a member of various organizations. However, nothing was more enjoyable to him than coaching the athletic teams of his children and supporting them in all their activities.
Marc “came home” in 2006 and fulfilled his dream of living on the lake while continuing his law practice. He immediately became part of the neighborhood to his many friends on Hickory Lane at Lake Cherokee. Lengthy conversations took place regarding special fishing spots and the best way to grow a successful garden. Anyone fortunate enough to be a friend of Marc’s had a friend for life.
Marc is survived by his children, Jamie Elizabeth Perkins of Ft. Worth; Kevin Tillman Perkins of San Antonio; and Kenzie Leigh Perkins of Gunnison, Colorado; mother, Jean Perkins of Longview; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Brent Taylor of Longview; nieces and nephews, Kiley and Harrison Taylor of Longview; Cristen Brandvik, Caren Crowder and Wesley Bunch of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his father, Tillman Perkins; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.H. Shivers and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Clem.
2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the Faith.”
