Manuel James "Bob" Gillam's Obituary
Manuel James “Bob” Gillam died Monday, March 13, 2017 in Longview at his home. Bob was born in Fort Worth on June 15, 1945. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran and served as a Security Forces Police Officer at Amarillo AFB and later overseas in Thailand during the Vietnam War. In the fall of 1974, Bob met his bride to be, Ramona Karen Mays. It was love at first sight, and the couple married one month later on November 2nd. Bob was a professional draftsman and worked for many years with McCommon and Associates in Longview.
Mr. Gillam is survived by his beloved bride of 42 years, Ramona Karen Gillam and their two daughters Shauna Attaway and her husband James; Tasha and her finance, Kirt McBride; three grandchildren Tyler Bain, Daisy Attaway, James Attaway IV. He is also survived by four more children: Sharon Culp, Randy Gillam, Christina Doake and Laurie Mills; and 11 grandchildren: Brooklyn Porterfield, Justin Culp, Eric Gillam, Jennifer Gillam, Josh Gillam, Nickolas Gillam, Cody Williams, Nathan Hogsett, Luke Hogsett, Josh Hogsett, and Nicholas Machabelo.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, with services following at 2:00 pm at Rader Funeral Home (617 Judson Road) in Longview. Those wishing to do so may contribute to the American Cancer Society by phone at 1-800-227-2345 or at www.cancer.org in Bob’s memory.
