Malcolm M. Baushke's Obituary
Services for M.M. "Mac" Baushke, 95, of Longview will be held in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Baushke passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at home in his Colonial Village apartment. He was born February 24, 1916 in Coloma, Michigan where he lived until moving to Longview in 1952.
Mr. Baushke was preceded in death by his wife Mildred and his daughter Janice. He is survived by his daughter Maxine and his son Duane and wife Judy; grandchildren Maureen, Susan, Jennifer and husband Lee, Jamie; and five great grandchildren. Mac was a World War II veteran serving as a carpenter's mate in the Navy, in the Asiatic Pacific.
When Mr. Baushke was 10 years old, he dragged his father from a live power wire, saving his life. His father lost an arm in the accident, was badly burned and would have surely died except for Malcolm's bravery. Mr. Baushke was a carpenter by trade and also a volunteer fireman. He took care of his family first, but his great love of fishing and hunting was impressive. Mr. Baushke was known for helping others and was considered a mentor by many.
Mr. Baushke will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
