Malcolm Wesley "Rusty" Brumit's Obituary
Malcolm Wesley "Rusty" Brumit passed away peacefully with family at his side on January 21, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Suzanne.
Born in Dallas, Texas, on November 5, 1943, to Malcolm and Edna Mae Brumit, he was the oldest of four boys. Rusty graduated from Sunset High School in 1961, where he discovered his love of music and drumming. He attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene before joining the United States Navy, where he proudly served as a telecommunications specialist in the Vietnam War.
Rusty was a Godly man and did his best to serve Him during his time on earth. He loved music and enjoyed cooking, taking great pride in his go-to favorite, spaghetti with homemade meat sauce. An avid fisherman who never had to be asked twice to go, his pole and tackle box were never far away. He was a character, always ready with a witty quip or pun. Even as his disease slowly took his words, his wit never failed him. We will remember his corny jokes and love of nature, country, family, and God. His family and friends will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
Rusty was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Brumit, and his brother, Brian Brumit. Mourning his loss but rejoicing in his homecoming are his son Wes (Cyndi) Brumit, daughter Tricia Brumit, son Ray Tarrant (Yasmeen Hart), and daughter Allison (Aaron) Beishline; grandchildren Ainsley, Cade, Sawyer, and Sammy Brumit, Blythe, Mayah, Aaron, Ella, Gideon, Elias, and Karice Beishline, Kirt and Christian Tarrant and four great-grandchildren; siblings Les (Betty) Brumit, Greg (Debbie) Brumit.
