She was born Madge Elizabeth Bonham in Shreveport, LA, on June 28, 1933, to Thomas Grayson Bonham and Madge Moore Bonham. After moving to Longview at the age of 15, she soon met George Raney, with whom she built a life. They were married for 70 years.
Her life is best summed up with this: She loved Jesus, and she loved people.
She faithfully served the Lord at First Baptist Church of Longview, specifically within the Children’s and Music Ministries. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have all depended on her at various times for love, support, advice, and prayers, even when they didn’t know she was praying for them. She was dearly loved, and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Charles and Milledge Bonham, son, Mark Raney, parents-in-law, Byron & Hollis Raney, daughter-in-law, Carletta Raney, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Raney. She is survived by husband George Raney, Sr., son, Noel Raney, Jr., daughters, Bethany Hollomon & Julie O’Bryant (Shannon). Grandchildren: Richard and James Hollomon, Nikki O’Bryant, Jordan Miller (James), Morgan Derrick, (Braeden), Taylor O’Bryant (Jamie), Chad Fenton, Jared Raney (Raven), Andy Harley, and Emma Raney. She has seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Longview.
