Mack D. Smelley's Obituary
Mack D. Smelley age 76 of Longview passed away August 8, 2014. Mack was born in Longview on July 1, 1938 to W. H. JR and Lola Smelley.
He graduated from Longview High School then went on and attended Kilgore College for two years. After that he enlisted into the United States Army
and honorably served our country for two years. Mack later returned to Longview where he made his home ever since.
He worked for Trailmobile for two years then entered the dirt construction business. Eventually starting his own business Mack D. Smelley & Sons Construction for over 40 years.
Mack was an avid fisherman, enjoyed side by side 4 wheeling and raising cattle which he did up to his passing. He was of the Baptist faith and most recently attended Jay Valley Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish Mack’s memory is his brother Billy T. Smelley, two sons Mack David Smelley and his wife Renee and Michael Scott Smelley and his wife Wendy,
grandchildren Christy Lawson and her husband Jason, Justin Smelley and his wife Leslie, Davis Smelley and his wife Brittany, and Zeke and Wade Smelley,
great-grandchildren Madison and Mason Taylor, Coltin Lawson and Sawyer Smelley. Mack’s parents, his sister Joan Todd and his beloved wife of 46 years Bonnie E. Smelley all precede him in passing.
Graveside services will be 10 am Monday, August 11, 2014 at Winterfield Cemetery in Longview.
Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
