Private graveside services for Mable Porter Eckert , 85, of Longview will be held at a later date in Commerce, Texas. Mrs. Eckert died Sunday morning at her residence.
She was born May 21, 1922 in McCalla, Alabama to Lester Hugh and Leila Cade Porter. She had been a resident of Longview since 1947 and was a former member of the nursing staff at Good Shepherd Medical Center and was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Skip Cole of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sherry Eckert of Longview and son, Douglas V. Eckert of Dallas; grandchildren: Nick and wife, Carla and Jason and wife, Elaine, Rick, Kim, Ron, and James; great grandchildren, Haydon and Kylie.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and chaplains at Texas Home Health Hospice; to her caregiver, Irene Pendergrass; to her neighbors, Bill and Dorothy; her friends and to her very special friend, Jimi.
