Mabel Virginia Beavers' Obituary
Mabel Virginia Beavers went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the age of 90. Mrs. Beavers was born to Arthur and Vada Hosler on May 9, 1923 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas.
On June 6, 1942, she married Marvin Dalton Beavers and they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Together, they moved to Longview in 1956 and reared 3 children. For a time, the couple lived in the Houston area where she worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Mrs. Beavers had a love for flowers, plants, and all the beauty of God's landscape. She was a founder of the Hydrangea Garden Club. She was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and was active in their Young at Heart group. She was a volunteer with the Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary and worked for the hospital gift shop as a craft designer.
Mabel is survived by two sisters, Anna Laura Knighten and husband Troy of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Marie Parsons and her husband, Robert of Jones, Oklahoma. A daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Warren Barker of Bryan; a son, Dee Arthur Beavers of Longview. Grandchildren Shane Nunley and wife, Jennifer of Longview, Gary Clifton Jr. and wife, Sarah, of Gilmer, Brad Barker of Garland, Katy Puga and husband, Juan, of Gilmer, Jared Barker and wife, Kathryn of Temple, Dalton Beavers of Houston, and Grant Beavers of Houston; 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Beavers is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred Hosler and Herbert Hosler; husband Marvin Beavers; and daughter, Sandra Clifton.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Services will held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Nunley, Gary Clifton Jr., Brad Barker, Juan Puga, Jared Barker, Dalton Beavers, and Grant Beavers.
