Lynn Cecil Kelley's Obituary
Lynn Cecil Kelley
Lynn Cecil Kelley was the eldest of three children born to Lynn Ralph and Helen Marie Whiteacre Kelley. He was born on January 26, 1929 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in a Longview nursing facility.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
He married Gloria Madge Tatman November 13, 1949, and there were 5 children born to that union. Like so many of his generation, Mr. Kelley spent a lot of his life working with livestock. As a young man, he drove his own 18-wheeler hauling produce throughout the continental United States. In the mid 1950's he served the small community of Fountain, Colorado as its town Marshall at the same time serving as a deputy of the El Paso County Sheriff's Department.
He was a self-taught auctioneer, having been fascinated watching auctioneers from his very young years. In the early 1960's he relocated the family to the Amarillo, TX area in order to build his auction business. Along with a partner Mr. Kelley operated Triangle Auctioneers until he retired in the early '80's. He and Gloria returned to Colorado, bought an existing RV park near San Isabel Lake in Colorado. They spent the next several years improving the property and traveling some themselves. They retired to Canon City, Colorado, but didn't stay fully retired, instead working part-time with the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Being the narrator for the train's trips through the gouge was a natural for Mr. Kelley. Upon final retirement, both he and his wife relocated to Hallsville, TX to be near 2 of their daughters.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Delores Ray, his beloved wife
