I have so many memories of Lyndon Sr. I knew him to be a strong and vibrant man of conviction and ideals. He was a visionary in the motel business, at a time & place that many questioned. He was proved right and began many of the policies of today's travel industry.
My favorite memories of him were dancing with me at my wedding, taking pictures with the family and charming so many. He brought my mother in law onto the dancefloor and even twirled her mom a few times. He shared smiles and wisdoms with my husband and me as we started our lives together.
When Dad was having his surgeries, Lyndon sat right there with Mom, lending her a shoulder and his own hopes for his son's health. That meant so much at a time that I couldn't be there, to know that there was someone else who was family.
Even as a little girl, it seemed LW was larger than life, and he has meant a lot to me. I wish I'd listened to his advice more, but I do think he knew how much regard we held for him and that we respected him as our patriarch.
